On Wednesday 9th January EF volunteers attended the BBC Star Gazing Event at Cambridge Institute of Astronomy. The Star Gazing event celebrates astronomy and encourages people to learn a little more about what is beyond our planet. Our volunteers assisted with meeting and greeting, stewarding and as activities volunteers helping children and families to engage with activities. Our volunteers are from all around the world with differing levels of English but with a common interest in helping the community. The organisers were very impressed with our volunteers calling them ‘wonderful, helpful, cheerful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic’ and would happily invite them to volunteer at future events.

The Cambridge Institute of Astronomy has open evenings with fascinating talks every Wednesday throughout the winter season, and also takes part in the Cambridge Science Festival held by Cambridge University every March.
